Given the dizzying complexity of the American Industrial Healthcare System, it’s easy for even highly educated people to feel overwhelmed by their options. Here are some savvy and somewhat counterintuitive ideas to help with your health insurance search.

First, did you know that you may be entitled to what’s known as a “Free Look” for certain healthcare plans? This means that you can test-drive your coverage, much as you would test-drive a car. Of course, not all healthcare plans come with a free look option, but you may not know such an option exists unless you ask. You’re generally allowed between one week and a month to test your plan, but you should read over the rules and restrictions of the free look option carefully. If you violate any of the codicils in your contract, you may be stuck with your plan, even if you decide you don’t really like it.

Sign up for a health savings account (HSA). This account allows you to stow away money to pay for doctor’s visits and other medical expenses in a tax shelter. The HSA can function as a de facto retirement account. After you hit the ripe age of 65, you can withdraw the money you have stored up to assist with your retirement budget. The best way to make an HSA work, according to specialists, is to opt for a high-deductible, low monthly premium plan. Of course, if you have special medical conditions or if you are pregnant (or about to be pregnant), a high-deductible, low premium plan probably isn’t the smartest way to go.

This brings us to another important idea: pick a plan that matches your medical and lifestyle needs. If you are middle aged or elderly, and you don’t see much potential for income growth in the future, get a plan that allows you to see specialists and that covers prescription drugs to the hilt. Aim for lower co-payments and the ability to see diverse specialists in relevant medical fields. If, on the other hand, you are a young, relatively healthy single male, opt for a plan that covers only catastrophic medical contingencies. For instance, get a plan that boasts low monthly premiums and will protect you if you get hurt in a car accident or end up in the emergency room.

Believe it or not, some providers allow you to negotiate the price and array of coverage options. Talk to your potential insurers about their preferred pricing programs, (particularly vis-à-vis prescription plans). You can save money by opting for generic prescription coverage. Your insurer may also suggest appropriate plans for your lifestyle.

Consider using a broker. Given the myriad options out there — including indemnity insurance, HMO coverage, PPO coverage, and POS (point of service) plans, it may behoove you to work with a specialist to home in on the best plans the market has to offer. Not all healthcare insurance brokers are created equal. Trust the National Association of Insurance Underwriters to vet potential brokers for you.

Determine your priorities before shopping plans and pricing options. Are you married and ready to start having children? Do you have any pre-existing conditions or potential health problems that might make it more difficult for you to get coverage? Can you count on a corporation or other private entity to fund or even partially fund your insurance payments? Do you qualify for government assistance with healthcare? Are you concerned about getting preventative coverage? Do you want to keep your current physicians in your covered network? Are you planning to move to another city in the next two years?

Get your answers straight to all the above questions. Browse online insurance help sites and community forums regarding coverage. The more specifically you know your needs and the potential pitfalls you might encounter when shopping for insurance, the faster and easier your search will be.

Be aware that the evidence of a “pre-existing condition” — even a minor one — can make it very difficult for you to get insurance on your own. For instance, let’s say that you were diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome four years ago, and you went to a chiropractor 12 times to get therapy to resolve the condition. If your insurer-to-be discovers that you had this treatment — even if you’re perfectly healthy today — you may be penalized or otherwise denied coverage.

Lastly, remember that it’s impossible to determine an absolutely optimal healthcare coverage program. At the end of the day, you can only guess what will be best for you in the future. Do what you can to get the best coverage for your needs, but don’t drive yourself crazy trying to optimize your cost-benefit calculus. Just make sure you have the basics covered — particularly emergency care — and spend your time and energy keeping yourself and your family healthy.

hen you have indoor allergies to dust, mold and pet dander, you come into contact with allergy irritants all year round. This contact can be the highest in your bedroom, where you come to rest and rejuvenate, but may end up worsening allergy symptoms. The high levels of allergens found in your bedroom can affect your health, and the path to a healthier night’s sleep is through reducing your exposure to allergens and therefore preventing allergy symptoms. While steps should be taken throughout the home to reduce allergens, start in the bedroom as you spend the most time here. When you take these allergy relief steps, you’ll be on your way to a healthier home and a healthier night’s sleep.

Step 1: Cover Your Pillow and Mattress in Dust Mite-Proof Allergy Encasings

Over 1 million dust mites can live in a single bed. These dust mites love the dark, warm and humid environment found in any bedding, such as your pillows, mattress, box spring, comforter, blankets or linens. You are allergic to dust mite allergens, which are the dust mites’ dead bodies and fecal particles. You can protect yourself from the large source of allergens within the bed by using allergy-proof covers (or ‘allergy encasings’), which create a barrier between you and the allergens inside. Certain allergy encasings may also protect against pet dander that has built up in the bed and are helpful if you have pet allergies. The allergy encasings zip fully around your pillow or mattress, and the most recommended encasings, such as Allergy Control® encasings, are made from tightly woven fibers that are breathable, totally comfortable and easy to care for. Scientific studies prove the effectiveness of including these allergy encasings on your bed, and by taking this simple step, you can make a lasting difference toward a healthier night’s sleep.

Step 2: Wash Your Bedding Frequently

After including Allergy Control® encasings on the bed, it’s important to wash any other bedding, such as linens or blankets, frequently in hot water. Physicians recommended washing every 1 to 2 weeks, as hot water washing removes the dust mite allergens from bedding that contribute to your allergy symptoms. If you prefer not to wash in hot water, special allergen-removing laundry products such as Allersearch Allergen Wash or de-mite Laundry Additive can remove dust mite allergens in any temperature.

Step 3: Clean Regularly to Reduce Allergen Levels

Regular cleaning of your bedroom and home will keep allergen levels lower. Focus on the bedroom, following these 6 Steps for Allergy Relief and then use similar methods throughout the house. Prioritize your efforts to those cleaning steps that are the most practical and beneficial for removing allergens. An allergy sufferer should avoid being home when cleaning is done, or wear a face mask when others clean or when doing the cleaning. A face mask similar to Allergy Zone face mask includes a center valve that filters allergen particles while allowing breath to flow comfortably for easy use while cleaning.

Step 4: Remove or Treat Carpeting, the Second Largest Source of Dust Mite Allergens

Dust mites like to burrow into the fibers of the carpet, and as a result, the carpet is the second largest source of dust mite allergens after the bed. Removing the carpet in favor of hardwood or tile floors is the best option. If removing the carpet is not possible, clean the carpet with an allergy-related carpet treatment that is designed to kill dust mites or denature (meaning to ‘deactivate’) allergens. Also remove heavy curtains in favor of light, washable versions or blinds, and select leather or wipe-able furniture over stuffed upholstered furniture.

Step 5: Filter Air with HEPA Air Cleaners, Air Filters and HEPA Vacuums to Remove Airborne Allergens

Allergens can circulate in the air in your home and using air filters and HEPA filtration products such as HEPA Air Cleaners and HEPA Vacuum Cleaners will trap these allergens to decrease the irritants that you may inhale. Allergy-free® air filters in your central air/heat system will trap allergens from further circulating through the vents. HEPA air cleaners and HEPA air purifiers will trap 99.97% of allergens down to 0.3 microns that flow through the HEPA filter. HEPA air cleaners will trap dust, mold spores, pollens and more and are especially helpful for pet allergies as pet dander remains airborne for longer periods of time for improved filtration.

Step 6: Dehumidify Air to Reduce Dust Mite and Mold Levels

Dust mites and molds thrive in humid environments. Keeping humidity levels below 50% will decrease the growth of each, which will reduce the allergens in your home. Use air conditioners and dehumidifiers to keep levels ideally between 35 – 40%. Monitor humidity levels with a gauge to make sure that you’re in the right zone, even in the winter when using a humidifier.

For 25 years, Allergy Control Products has been recommended by thousands of physicians as the most trusted allergy company for revolutionary products for indoor allergies. Whether you’re looking for the highest quality air purifier, air filters, hypoallergenic bedding or more, you can rely on the over 500 allergy products that have helped hundreds of thousands of allergy sufferers combat allergies and allergy relief.

Trying to gain weight is just as hard as trying to lose some unwanted pounds. For people who have been losing weight for the longest time but are unsuccessful in doing such, gaining back those lost weight may not be a problem. However, for thin and metabolically active people, gaining weight can be tough. The actual process of gaining is just a piece of the puzzle. Another obstacle is finding the right resources about weight gain. This is due to the flooding of weight loss niches on websites while there is lacking in weight gain articles.

Most of the underweight people resort to unhealthy ways of bulking up. They eat high fat, high calorie foods but neglect consuming nutrient dense foods like vegetables and fruits. They can be successful in achieving their ideal weights but they risk acquiring lifestyle diseases like hypertension and dyslipidemia caused by improper diet and unhealthy lifestyle. This article lists down some healthy ways to gain weight.

1. Start with a positive outlook in gaining weight.

You have to prepare yourself mentally to pursue a weight gain regimen. It will not be easy and results will not occur overnight. Remember that it takes time to get used to changes in eating habits so sticking to the routine is more important than anything. You may fail at first but do not let this hamper you from attaining your goal. In addition, the values you need to develop are perseverance and discipline. Without these, you will not surpass even the first week of your weight gain program. You have to visualize and really believe your goal so whatever challenge comes, overcoming them will not be a problem.

2. Make a healthy diet plan to add weight.

It is true that food is the key in gaining weight. You can even ask your friends who try so hard to lose weight but end up gaining them back if not adding more pounds. They may tell you that they just ate hamburger, pizza and ice cream all week and could not believe the reading they got from the bathroom scale. Therefore, you try to copy what they did in the hope of adding up weight instead you ended up with a bad stomach.

This is not the way to attack your weight problem. You need a diet plan and a healthy one at that. It should be varied as well as balanced. Aim to eat foods rich in both calories and nutrients. Meaning you should eat more beans, seafoods, fruits and vegetables that contain essential vitamins without the added calorie in lieu of sticking to the traditional way of feeding on pork, beef and chicken. In addition, you have the option to learn how to count calories to check if you are eating enough to gain weight. There are numerous calorie counters on the internet so just check it there. Bear in mind that you need 3,500 calories to gain 1 pound, which means that for each day you need to consume an additional 500 calories.

3. Do physical activities to bulk up.

Exercise is part of the equation of lifestyle change whether you want to lose or gain weight. Of course, the type of exercise varies but the important thing is to build muscle. You wouldn’t want to gain weight but have flabby arms, thighs and abs right? The types of exercise you may need are weight training and light aerobic exercises like jogging, swimming or dancing. Stretching is also necessary since you need to ensure you are flexible to do daily activities. Muscle is more important than flab because of the capacity of the former to engage in metabolic activities plus the added feature of muscle weighing more than fat.

These are just some of the healthy ways to gain weight. The Internet provides more resources so you can just Google it up using the right keywords. Never give up and cheers to a heavier but healthier you.

A heart attack will hit someone when the blood flowing to a certain part of the heart is being blocked. If the flow of blood remains blocked for too long of a period then that part of the heart will be damaged due to lack of oxygen and it can die.<!–more–>

Heart attacks and the symptoms experienced during one can vary. There are some heart attacks that are very intense and can strike a person very suddenly and with very little warning. This is one of the more obvious symptoms and makes it easy to identify that it is a heart attack.

However, most heart attacks will strike someone slowly and the patient will only feel mild pain that is hard to associate with a heart attack. People who experience these mild symptoms must look for the more obvious signs so that they get help right away.

Chest Pains - When someone is experiencing a heart attack they will usually have pains in the center of their chest that will last for a few minutes. This pain will go away and come back and will feel as if someone is squeezing too hard.

Upper Body Pains - A person might also feel pains in their arms, neck, jaw, stomach, and back.

Shortness Of Breath - This can occur even if you are not having chest pains.

More Signs - These are some of the big signs to look for. Other smaller signs include nausea, lightheadedness, and breaking out into a cold sweat.

It is important to remember these symptoms. Cal 911 if you know or even suspect that you are having a heart attack. This is the fastest way for anyone to get treatment. The sooner someone who is having a heart attack is treated the more likely they are to survive from the experience and to avoid disability.

Staying in shape and healthy seems like an easy thing for us to do - but in reality many of us are

unaware of all the steps we need to take to accomplish this. There are five important steps to take

that may not always help you to get the chiseled body that you want wu yi diet- but it will bring you that much

closer to keeping your body healthy. Teeth Whitening

1. Keep On Moving

Find ways to get up and do something to keep your body moving. Instead of sitting down and watching TV

all afternoon or all night go outside with your kids and run around or play ball with them. While at

work get up every couple of hours and take a walk around the office or walk to lunch instead of drive.

This is especially great for those of you who are too busy to go to the gym. It keeps your metabolism

going and keeps you energized.

2. Lose The Fat

Everywhere we look there are fast food restaurants that beckon us to eat there. While the food we eat

there might taste great they are full with so much fat and cholesterol that we are slowly damaging our

body. Cut down eating fried food, fatty meats, and try to eat low-fat cheese, milk, and other dairy

products.

3. Quit Smoking

Since 1960 the Surgeon General has been warning consumers that tobacco in cigarettes can be harmful to

your health and can slowly destroy your lungs. Nothing has changed since then and in order to prevent

this you must first say no to using them. It seems that in movies the cool people are portrayed smoking

and because of this many young teenagers and young adults feel that this will make them cool. Do not

let yourself or your children fall for this. Warn them of the dangers before it is too late!

4. De-Stress Yourself

This is one of the hardest things for anyone to do because even the smallest things can set us off.

Whether it be school, work, family, or just life in general there will always be something that will

cause us stress. A good way to try lower the stress you are under is to be alone for 30 minutes

to kidney, liver, and heart disease.
